THE SPREADING OF FAKE NEWS IN MALAYSIA
A series of editorial illustrations on how international online disinformation campaigns made its way to our shores and spread within local online communities in Malaysia.

Working on the concept of the anonymity of how fake news spreads, I imagine a world where monsters are lurking around, disguising themselves as human beings, and just waiting to attack. I combined the black and white photos of Malaysians walking in a back alley, at the train station, and on a public bus, with illustrations of monsters to depict the idea of fake news infiltrating peoples' life through media in public spaces(for instance Facebook groups).
The highly saturated colour palette was specifically chosen to create a contrast with photos, and to reflect the unsettling nature of the subject matter.
