Reformasi Undang-undang Perburuhan Malaysia is a short animation that illustrates the daily lives of blue collar workers in Malaysia, and the challenges they each face daily. I directed, illustrated and designed the characters alongside NOvia and Tay Sy Wong.

Reformasi Undang- undang Perburuhan Malaysia (The Reformation of Labour Law in Malaysia) is a short animation about the plight of Malaysian blue-collar workers and the need for labour law reformation.
Simple graphics and illustrations were used to communicate the verbose law terms and complicated working hour calculations. For the colour choice, we’ve made the decision to go with dark and contrasting colours in the first half of the animation to match the mood of the script. It later transitioned into a bright, pastel-looking colour palette in the second half as the mood of the story turned more positive.
The animated short was published on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and has amassed more than 30k views. It’ll also be played during Industriall Global Union’s regular workshops with blue-collar workers. There were also plans to have the video translated into more languages.
